IPTC
IPTC metadata is often used for captions, credits, keywords, and editorial information in image files.
What IPTC is used for
IPTC metadata is commonly used in publishing and newsroom systems. It often stores fields such as title, caption, creator, copyright, and keywords.
Unlike many EXIF fields, IPTC is often added intentionally by editors rather than written automatically by a camera.
Why IPTC can still matter outside publishing
Even if you do not work in media, IPTC fields can still travel with an image when it is downloaded, reused, or passed between teams.
That makes IPTC worth checking when you want to confirm ownership details, remove old credits, or compare different versions of the same image.
